Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) proudly participated in the launch event of the Sustainability Report of Fakir Fashion Ltd., marking a significant milestone for Bangladesh’s knitwear industry.

On behalf of BKMEA President Mohammad Hatem and Executive President Fazlee Shamim Ehsan attended the event as Honorable Speakers. Mohammad Rashed, Vice President joined as an Honorable Panelist in the discussion titled “From Compliance to Competitive Advantage.” The event was also graced by the presence of Md. Jamal Uddin Miah, Minhazul Hoque, and Engr. Md. Belayet Hossen Ripon, Directors of BKMEA.

Distinguished guests also included Max Tuñón, Country Director of International Labour Organization in Bangladesh; Mohammad Hasan Arif, Vice-Chairman of Export Promotion Bureau; Selim Reza Hasan, Country Manager of Solidaridad Network Asia; and Dr. Michael Klode, Head of Project, STILE II, GIZ.

Fakir Kamruzzaman Nahid, Managing Director of Fakir Fashion Ltd. and Honorable Vice President of BKMEA, delivered the closing remarks and expressed sincere thanks to all stakeholders for their support and contributions.

The BKMEA GRI Certified Sustainability Professional Team was also present at the event, reflecting the Association’s continuous engagement and technical support in advancing sustainability reporting practices across the sector.

BKMEA also extends its sincere appreciation to Solidaridad Network Asia and Susnex for their valuable collaboration and support in making this initiative a success.

As highlighted by the President, “Sustainability is no longer just a concept; it has become a global priority for the industrial sector.” This initiative, under the Sustainability Reporting Initiative Project, reflects BKMEA’s commitment to promoting environmental responsibility, social accountability, and good governance within the industry.
