A meeting was held today (12 October) at the BKMEA Dhaka office to explore potential opportunities for renewable energy integration in Bangladesh’s readymade garments sector.

The meeting brought together representatives from BKMEA and Centre for Policy Dialogue (CPD) for an in-depth discussion on promoting sustainability and green energy initiatives in the industry.

BKMEA Executive President Fazlee Shamim Ehsan, Senior Vice President Amal Podder, Vice President Mohammad Rashed and Director Mihazul Hoque attended the meeting on behalf of the organization.

From CPD, Research Director Khondaker Golam Moazzem and other officials were present. Representatives from Fakir Apparels Ltd. including Director Fakir Rafsanuzzaman and Munzarin Zaman also participated in the discussion.

The meeting focused on key issues such as renewable energy adoption, sustainability, carbon neutralization, solar energy systems, awareness building on green energy and the need for policy and facilitation from the government to accelerate the transition.

BKMEA leaders emphasized the importance of collaboration among industry stakeholders, policymakers, and development partners to enhance competitiveness and move towards a more sustainable and environmentally responsible RMG industry.
