BKMEA, BGMEA and UNICEF have been signed a MoU

To provide the support to the working mother in the RMG factories BKMEA, BGMEA and UNICEF have been signed a MoU titled on ‘Kik-off of Partnerships on Strengthening & Scaling-up Mothers@Work Programe in the Readymade Garment Industry’. BKMEA Vice President Mr. Fazlee Shamin Ehsan, BGMEA President Mr. Faruque Hasan and the representative of UNICEF Mr. Sheldon yet have signed the MoU. Mr. Sayed Mojibul Huq, Additional Secretary of Ministry of Health & Family Welfare was present there.  Executive President of BKMEA Mohammad Hatem represents BKMEA at the signing ceremony.

Through this partnership Mother @Work initiative will be scaled up in RMG factories in the initial year which will benefits about 81,000 female workers through nutrition awareness. This will enable 4800 pregnant women and 4000 lactating mothers to avail maternity rights and breastfeeding support provisions at their workplaces, as well as ensure day-care facilities for 8000 under two children in the initial year. the initiative ultimately aims to reach to over 4000 factories in Bangladesh to provide targeted support for women in workforce.
