A bilateral meeting between BKMEA and representatives of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of the Government of Japan was held on 16 February 2023. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss investment prospects in Bangladesh and the Japan-Bangladesh economic partnership. Executive President Mohammad Hatem was present on behalf of BKMEA in the meeting held at Dhaka office of BKMEA. On the other hand, Kazutaka NAKAGAWA, the Free trade agreement (FTA) Facilitator of the Economic Partnership Division of the Trade Policy Bureau of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of Japan, and senior officials of the two organizations were present at the meeting.

The representatives of the Trade Policy Bureau of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of the Government of Japan discussed about the possibility of investment in Bangladesh with the BKMEA Executive President. During the meeting, the representatives of the Trade Policy Bureau of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of Japan discussed investment prospects in Bangladesh, Japan-Bangladesh economic partnership, friendly relations between the two countries, and FTA. The Executive President acknowledged the importance of Japanese investment in Bangladesh and mentioned the organization’s full cooperation in this regard. Overall, the meeting was a positive step in strengthening economic ties between Japan and Bangladesh.
