The Promotion of Social, Environmental and Production Standards in the Readymade Garment Sector, in short know as, PROGRESS, is a joint program of the Bangladesh Ministry of Commerce and the German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), implemented by the German Technical Cooperation (GTZ).
PROGRESS aims to contribute to poverty alleviation through economic development. As such, the program’s ultimate aim is to enhance sector competitiveness and, at the same time, to help establish decent working and living conditions.
PROGRESS supports a multilevel and multi-stakeholder approach, cooperating with local suppliers, international buyers, government, non- government organizations, and trade unions in order to foster market compatible instruments that have rapid effects in markets and work places.
PROGRESS looks for constructive ways to implement social and environmental standards and to establish mechanisms for settling grievances and arbitration disputes. Moreover, PROGRESS helps Bangladeshi suppliers to improve production and eco-efficiency through skills development and promotion of innovation.
PROGRESS is working as a partner of BKMEA since last 3 years.
