Capacity Building of the Knitwear Sector through Productivity Improvement
BKMEA has started the project " Capacity Building of the Knitwear Sector
through Productivity Improvement" from August 1, 2006 . A project office has been taken for the purpose at 1/1-A (4th Floor), Free School Street , Sonargaon Road , Dhaka . The project is taken to increase capacity of the knit sector with given and existing resources. To achieve the target a "Productivity Improvement Cell" has been formed that will provide technical supports to the knit factories. The program will train up professionals in the methodology and techniques of productivity improvement and it also aims at building a pool of technical professionals and raises the awareness level of the entrepreneurs. The members of BKMEA are specifically the target group of the project, but if the project proves to be successful then gradually the coverage will be extended.
The objective of the project is to:
- develop a centre of excellence as a service point
- develop a pool of professionals, knowledgeable in Productivity Improvement,
- raise awareness of entrepreneurs, and
- capacity building of the industry professionals.
Under the project the first training program has started on November 1,
2006. BKMEA is seeking cooperation of its member units to make the project
successful. From time to time members will be informed of the activities of
the project and will be invited to join the activities. The project is
funded by the European Commission under the Small Projects Facility (SPF).
