At present, japan is the world’s fourth largest knitwear importer with us $ 10.37 billions import in 2007. China is the biggest suppliers of the knitwear products in Japan representing near about 86.49 percentage of the country’s total knitwear import. Bangladesh which exports just a little higher that US $ 6 millions has a very tiny market share (.06%). Japan knitwear market is a highly sophisticated consumer’s market characterized by full of information, small lot and short cycle supply delivery. Apparel consumption is much diversified. The consumers demand extreme quality of the products they purchase. So simply offering lower price is not adequate to capture the market. Apparel maunfacturers must create a positive image of their products to the Japanese consumers in order to achieve success in this market.
